First, the good news:
Sunday's demonstrations went off, more or less, without a hitch. Matters seem to have been helped by the fact that the Skinheads did not make an appearance (or at least not in my neighborhood). A mass of red and black came over the bridge from Usera (see photo) and worked its way peacefully to the spot at which Carlos was killed by a Skinhead.
The only collateral damage was red paint thrown onto the steps of the Metro to signify the blood of their fallen friend. Judging by the many red footprints leading to and from the blob of wet paint, it seems many of our neighbors discovered its presence too late...
